Akuapem Poloo to serve 90 days in jail following appeal dismissal by Court

A High Court in Accra has dismissed the appeal filed by Rosemond Brown aka Akuapem Poloo challenging her 90 days custodial sentence.

Akuapem Poloo will now continue to serve her 90 days jail terms imposed on her by the Circuit Court.

According to the court presided by Justice Aryeetey, the 90 days sentence was not excessive and harsh. The court while affirming the Circuit Court decision said, the punishment imposed was to cause much harm to the convict which will then become a deterrent to herself and others.

To this end, the court said, the choice of the Circuit was correct and the High Court won’t meddle.

Akuapem Poloo was convicted for publishing obscene material, violating her 7-year-old son.

The court has likewise requested that her child ought to be given to any capable individual in the family to cater for him.

Reports from the High Court indicated that, Akuapem Poloo was sobbing following her appeal dismissal and will commence to serve 82 days jail terms from where she left off at Nsawam Prisons.
