burnaboy bet 500x464 - Full List of 2019 BET Award Winners

The 2019 BET Awards went down tonight at Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theatre. This year’s edition is jettisoning a few of the quirkier categories like best verses and biggest hustlers for a more straightforward show that honors excellence in music, movies and sports.

Cardi B topped the streamlined list of nominations with 7 nods. Tyler Perry and Mary J. Blige are being honored with takes on a Lifetime Achievement Award and several categories opened up to fan voting. Nigeria’s BurnaBoy on the other hand was crowned the Best International Act. Whereas his mother, Mama Burna delivered a wonderful speech when she went up to receive the plaque on behalf of her son.
