Hundreds of Filipino couples participated in a mass wedding wearing face masks because of coronavirus fears.
As part of efforts to prevent the spread of the virus, officials in Bacolod city conducted health tests and provided the 220 couples with the masks before they tied the knot
During the “Mask Wedding” ceremony which held on Thursday, at the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC), 220 Filipino couples exchanged their vows and kissed while wearing masks distributed by the City Health Office (CHO).
The wedding dubbed “Kasalan ng Bayan: 220 on 02-20-2020” was officiated by Mayor Evelio Leonardia and they all had to wear masks following the outbreak of the deadly coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19).
“It feels different to kiss while wearing masks, but it was required,” said John Paul Inventor, 39, who married his partner of seven years and the mother of their two children.
