Afrobeat songstress Wendy Shay and her label, Rufftown Records seems to have disregarded the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) Ban preventing celebrities from alcohol advertisement in Ghana in her most recent music video.

2 minutes, 54 seconds into her new video, ‘Emergency‘ featuring Bosom P-Yung, Wendy Shay served herself an alcoholic beverage from Kasapreko named, Alomo Black Bitters. The video advances into a montage of Wendy Shay performing with the beverage and a wine glass in her hands.

Wendy Shay somewhere in February was halted from advertising for an alcoholic brand by the FDA because of its negative effect on the youth.

But from the video,  you can see clearly Wendy Shay did a product placement for an alcoholic beverage company.

Be that as it may, Youtube Advertising Policies however permits brand or informational advertising for alcoholic beverages in several countries including Ghana.

Effectively 1st January 2018, the FDA banned both advertisement and Live Presenter Mention (LPM) of alcoholic beverages in the media before 8pm. Media houses who flouts the law will be dealt by the law according to the FDA.

So the inquiry one may pose is; ‘Does Wendy Shay’s music video go in opposition to FDA’s initiative?, ‘Are TV Stations aware of it?’ or ‘Will Wendy Shay be punished by the FDA?’

Stay tune for more update on this.
