MzVee accused of song Theft
Afrobeat songstress, MzVee, has been accused of song theft by rising Ghanaian music duo, Zee TM.
The duo have accused MzVee for using their intellectual property in her latest single “Who Are You” without seeking their consent.
‘‘We recorded our [Promise] song last year January but decided to release on February 9, 2020, due to some reasons. Coincidentally MzVee also released her latest single [Who Are You] on the same day but we didn’t pay attention to the details of her song until a friend of mine asked me to do so” Ad kid, a member of the Zee TM revealed.
“As I was listening to her song I noticed she used the same beat which we used in recording our [Promise] song and that was quite shocking because we are the original producers of that beat…” he added
“MOG recorded the beat for us last year and he is the one who normally works on MzVee’s songs. He is the same person who worked on MzVee’s [Who Are You] but we can’t ascertain the fact that he gave the beat to MzVee…We just don’t know why MzVee used the same beat” Ad kid concluded.
Ad Kid also revealed that when they contacted MOG Beatz, he told them he had no idea how they both ended up recording on the same beat. Zee TM has not pressed charges against the “Sheriff” crooner yet, however, we will bring you any development around the story.
